System Setup

A typical system setup consists of two S-100 air vehicles each with multiple payloads, a ground control system with two workstations and an encrypted data link – a configuration optimised to ensure minimal footprint and 24/7 availability.

The CUBE

The CUBE is the hub between all system components, including networks and AI, to simplify installation, connectivity and cabling. Its design allows portable use or permanent installation on vehicles and ships.

Ruggedized Laptops

The CAMCOPTER® S-100 is operated using two dedicated laptops: one for controlling one or multiple aircraft itself and another for managing its payloads, ensuring seamless operation and precise mission execution.

Tracking Antenna

The system setup includes a variety of tracking antennas, allowing for flexible and reliable operation depending on the specific mission requirements and operational environment.

Pilot Control Unit

The S-100 launches, recovers and navigates automatically via pre-programmed 3D waypoints or can be operated directly with a pilot control unit.

Ground Modules

The ground modules provide precise real-time positioning, navigation and redundant communication capabilities, ensuring seamless coordination between ground control station and air vehicles even in challenging environments.

Core System Features

Command and Control

The robust system software has been continuously developed to be versatile, adaptable and intuitive to use. The Primary Flight Display (PFD) shows position, mission and diagnostic status information in real time, while the dedicated payload workstation permits control of multiple payloads for AI supported data viewing, recording and processing. Flexible system setup allows control of the S-100 from either ruggedised multi-screen consoles or from just two laptops. Integration with third-party infrastructures, such as Emergency Response Coordination Centres (ERCC) or Combat Management Systems (CMS) on naval vessels, is provided for dissemination of live data and remote control.

Data Link Options

The data link provides secure, state of the art encrypted, real-time connectivity with various range options out to 200 km (108 nm). A Satellite Communication (SATCOM) module is available for operations beyond topographical line of sight.

Operational Options

The S-100 system offers versatile operational options to suit a wide range of mission profiles. It can be deployed in mobile configurations, enabling rapid setup and operation from vehicles or temporary sites. For more static applications, the system can be used in stationary setups, providing consistent and reliable coverage from fixed locations. Additionally, the Manned-Unmanned Teaming (MUM-T) capability allows seamless integration with manned platforms, enabling coordinated operations for enhanced situational awareness and operational efficiency.

Interoperability

The CAMCOPTER® S-100 is STANAG 4586-compatible, capable of transferring information seamlessly. The sophisticated level of interoperability allows interaction and direct control from land-based locations, vessels, land vehicles and aircraft (MUM-T).

The French Navy, through the French Government defence procurement and technology agency (Direction Générale de l’Armement, DGA) and Naval Group, has ordered five additional CAMCOPTER® S-100 systems under the Navy’s unmanned aviation programme. Naval Group, as prime contractor and lead system integrator, will deploy and integrate the systems on the Frégates Européennes Multi-Mission (FREMM) including mission management through the Steeris® MS system.
